In this challenging and controversial ECOHOST lecture, Sanjay Basu will describe important new studies setting out the evidence of a link between global trade in sugars, for example in the form of sugary soft drinks, is driving the global epidemic of diabetes. He will discuss how the role of sugar has been misrepresented by the global food corporations and discuss policies to address this epidemic.

Sanjay Basu is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the leading thinkers on global health, combining innovative approaches to data analysis and modelling with a keen appreciation of policy.
